Wildwood Outdoor Education Center is seeking a seasonal Health & Wellness Manager to help further our mission of summer camp for the community. This position focuses on coordinating health and wellness efforts for the summer camp program: 

    • Managing the day-to-day operations of the camp’s health services ;
  • Overseeing the general wellness of campers and staff; 
  • Ensures that camp health & safety practices and procedures are in place,  in compliance with a variety of appropriate entities, and is being followed;
  • Be a role model to campers and staff in their attitude and behavior;
  • and building strong connections with campers and staff.

The position requires living and working on-site at our camp in La Cygne, KS during summer months (May to August). Work hours in the summer will require evening and may include weekend hours.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

Health Services

  • Develops and implements system for health screening of arriving campers and staff 
  • Oversee the medication management for campers and staff including inventory, distribution, documentation, and disposal. 
  • Effectively manage supplies and equipment  and provide service to treat minor injuries and illnesses including stocking and documenting first-aid kits throughout camp. 
  • Provide and respond to first-aid in life-threatening emergencies until medical assistance arrives.
  • Monitors sanitation and safety conditions throughout the camp
  • Ensure all protocols to mitigate further risks with Covid-19 are being followed.
  • Advises on-call health professional, Camp Director and/or other designated staff on issues relating to health and safety.

Seasonal Summer Staff

  • Walk-through cabins to assess cleanliness
  • Monitor mental health of campers and staff through random check-ins.
  • Arrange for ways to help staff decompress and debrief after emergency situations.
  • Provide resources to staff for supporting campers in behavior management
  • Develop fun activities for campers and staff alike throughout the week
Qualifications

This position requires to be at least 21 years of age.  A successful candidate will have some experience in the health & wellness setting.  Excellent leadership, planning, and  communication skills are essential. Candidates should have the ability to work independently, strive for excellence, and possess a demonstrated passion for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Job Benefits

We offer flexibility in scheduling, and a starting daily  salary at $125/day for 5-6 days a week.
